Christmas Morning Is a Magical Experience
Christmas is a time where people do what they can to bring joy to the lives of other people. This happens to be one of my favourite parts of the holiday. That is what makes Christmas morning a magical experience. This is the quiet time that you get to spend with your family at home before you have to travel to the dozens of other Christmas events that you promised to attend on the holiday. Christmas morning is a time that every family cherishes, so having a good plan for this morning can make a huge difference in the quality of time that you are spending with your family.
The first thing that you should do with your Christmas morning is to set the mood from the beginning of the day so that you can start off on the right foot. Start by playing Christmas music (or even start earlier by waking up to Christmas music with your alarm) as you make a breakfast. This could be as simple as cooking up some cinnamon rolls or bagels or a more complex pancakes and bacon breakfast. Even if you typically enjoy meals at the dinner table, consider eating breakfast around the Christmas tree before you open up the presents. Spend some quality time together with your loved ones quietly before you have to run around for the day.
Be sure to take at least half the day for just yourself and your family. This will give you the time that you need to decompress after such a hectic time of year. You spent all of that time shopping for the perfect gifts, wrapping all of the presents, and worrying about money during this holiday. Take your time cleaning up the wrapping paper because it is important to just take this time in.
Take some pictures of your family but remember to live in the moment and not behind a camera. Be present and take in all of the joy on everyone’s faces as they open up presents that they wanted or didn’t even know that they wanted. Watch your little ones try to excitedly open up the box after they see what it is because they want to play with it so badly, ignoring their other gifts. Laugh together. These are the things that truly make Christmas morning a magical experience. At least, these are my favourite things about the morning.
Your children will remember those Christmas mornings!
Understand that ultimately, Christmas morning is about the experience. Your children will remember those mornings for the rest of their lives and may even use some of those traditions for their families in the future. If you don’t have children, that doesn’t mean that these quiet moments are not something that you can experience. You can enjoy snuggling with your pets and your coffee. You can enjoy the quiet with your partner. These are all activities that you can do in order to make your Christmas morning magical and set the mood for the rest of the holiday.
